Spindrift: Where’s Luke?

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens coming out in next Friday, it’s never too late for me to chip in to some of my theories about Star Wars.

There have been countless theories from Jar Jar binks being a Sith Lord to Luke being Kylo Ren. I definitely don’t agree with either of these two. That being said, I don’t think that it’s impossible that Luke is evil. A channel on YouTube called Film Theory recently did a video on how likely it is that Luke is now working under the Sith and it’s pretty damn convincing. At this point though there really isn’t any strong evidence for either side since Luke has only been in one scene in the trailer when he was veiled under the cloak and he isn’t on the poster. J.J. Abrams has been doing a superb job at keeping his fans guessing and we know that he goes as far as to create fake leaks too keep the secrecy of a movie.

That’s one of the things that I admire the most about him. At this point any speculation is fair game and we won’t truly know anything until the movie hits theatres. The one thing that I really find unlikely though is that Luke is Kylo Ren. The main reason being that we’ve seen Kylo Ren without his mask and he looks absolutely nothing like Luke. I also really wouldn’t want Kylo Ren to be Luke. He seems like a very interesting character and I want him to be brand new. I do however think that there is a possibility that Kylo is related to either Luke or Rey. I just hope that they don’t go overboard on the whole family thing.

What I’m really looking forward to is seeing Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, as I mentioned in a previous article. I think he will be playing an Emperor-type role. I think he’s going to have more power than Kylo Ren or any other villain. The fact that they’ve revealed so little about him and we don’t even know what he looks like just goes to show how much J.J. Abrams wants to keep this movie a secret.

If you have any of your own theories or hopes for Star Wars tell me in the comments.
