Spindrift: D23

Disney showcased such a large lineup of movies coming out in the future, that I can’t help but get excited. From things like Toy Story 4 to Star Wars there’s so much to talk about.

The most surprising announcement to me was the Pete’s Dragon reboot. I loved this movie, as a kid, but never would have imagined that they would be remaking it. We’re also getting live action versions of Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book. I really do hope that these turn out well and I honestly think that they will. Another thing that caught my eye was Pirates of the Caribbean 5. I never saw the fourth but I consider myself a fan of the series.

I do hope that Disney comes up with more original things in the future rather than rebooting all of their old hits.

The one animated movie that I am by far looking the most forward to is Incredibles 2. The first Incredibles movie is my favorite animated movie of all time and I can’t wait to see where the sequel takes the series.

Moving in to the big boys: Star Wars and Marvel. I was sincerely disappointed when they announced that Colin Trevorrow would be directing Star Wars Episode 8. There were so many other options and I guarantee that the only reason that they picked this guy was due to Jurassic World major success. In my eyes, he’s just not the right guy for the job. What about someone like Brad Bird or even better why not just have J.J. Abrams return to direct the eighth episode?! Disney also showed off some Star Wars: Rogue One information and announced that Disney would create a massive theme park based on Star Wars. I can’t even imagine what that’s going to be like.

Marvel also brought a lot to the table. Some concept art for Doctor Strange was revealed and I think that Benedict Cumberbatch is going to give one of the best Marvel performances ever. But how could I write about D23 without talking about Captain America: Civil War. Some extremely lucky people were able to see the first Civil War trailer and Marvel has still refused to give the fans what they want and release it out to the public. All I want is to see Black Panther in all of his glory. If Civil War doesn’t take itself seriously though, and barrages its audience with its corny Marvel jokes, I’m going to be pissed. Just don’t give us a serious trailer and make the movie way less serious like Avengers: Age of Ultron.

So are you on Team Iron Man or Team Captain America? Tell me in the comments.

I, myself, am on Team Cap.

As always thanks for reading.

  1. Pirates 4 was a good movie; check it out. JJ should’ve directed Ep VIII, but I’ve read he’s tired of it. Idk. Benedict as Strange will be epic. Believe that.

It’ll be cool to finally see Black Panther & Spiderman in Civil War.

Civil War will be serious I feel. It’ll be cool to see them all fight.

Team Iron Man all the way.
