Spindrift: Trailers!

I cannot tell you how many times in the last few days that I have sat down to watch a new trailer.

By no means is this a bad thing, but it’s something that I want to talk about. The trailers, in question, have consisted of: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Fantastic 4, Jurassic World, Terminator: Genisys, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Some of these trailers did a fantastic job of hyping people up for the movie without spoiling too much and some spoiled way to much about the movie (*cough* Terminator: Genisys *cough*).

Yes, if you plan on seeing Terminator: Genisys, just watch the latest trailer and you will feel as though you have basically seen the movie. An example of a trailer that didn’t give away too much would definitely be Star Wars.

If you were unaware that so many trailers had come out let me tell you a bit of what happened.

The Star Wars trailer had been released because of Star Wars Celebration going on. A few movies following that, like Batman V Superman and Fantastic 4, had supposedly been leaked online and the companies decided to realease the trailers anyway, therefore giving us an onslaught of trailers.

This isn’t a bad thing, it just gives us geeks a hell of a lot to talk about.

I’ll give you my opinions on a few of the trailers but not all of them. The Star Wars trailer was pretty self explanatory, so I wont go into that one but I would like to talk about Batman V. Superman. To start obviously this movie isn’t called ‘Batman V. Man of Steel,’ which shows us that Superman is finally comfortable with his powers and has completely transitioned into Superman from the character of the previous film. The way I see it this movie sets it up so that there are two kinds of people, those who see Superman as a god and those who see him as a threat. This gives Lex Luthor a chance to take advantage of the latter and use them to oppose Superman. Perhaps Batman works with Luthor in order to take Superman down or just goes after him on his own turning this movie into the Batman verses Superman which we were promised. I can envision Batman later realizing his blindness to who Superman really is and joining forces with him to take Lex Luthor down.

Moving on to another trailer I’d like to share my opinions on is Jurassic World. The newest trailer shows us that this may differ from the former Jurassic Park movies being about survival by making this one about a hunt. If you weren’t aware, there is a genetically created dinosaur in this film that has begun to run rampant throughout the park and go on a killing spree. This leaves Chris Pratt to hunt the beast down. Too bad he doesn’t have that Star-Lord suit hanging around. Anyway now ole Pratt has to gather up the forces of velociraptors which probably won’t be as effective in killing as Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket would be (OK, I’ll stop with the Guardians of the Galaxy references, now). This trailer has gotten me very excited about the new Jurassic World and looks like it will be a fresh revisit to the franchise.

Well that’s all I want to talk about today, so share your thoughts in the comments and let me know what you think.
