Spindrift: Thoughts on the Thor: Ragnarock Teaser

Thor: Ragnarock is a movie that I have been looking forward to for a number of reasons. I love Thor, the choice to make Taika Waititi is very interesting, and the elements of Planet Hulk all have me in anticipation. Finally, we’ve received the first teaser trailer, and it’s great. I want to start by noting that this is one of the most stylistically diverse Marvel movies. Most marvel movies have always kind of stuck with a similar bland style in my opinion, but Thor: Ragnarock is filled with interesting colors and weird creatures designs. Even the title looks spectacular. The film’s style is reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy, and reinforces the idea that space in the Marvel Cinematic universe is this weird, bizarre, and unpredictable place. From the very beginning of the trailer the stakes are shown. This villain’s power level is ridiculous, and feels welcome in a cinematic universe where sometimes stakes feel low. Hopefully the movie isn’t hurt from tonal shifts like past Marvel movies. I’d love to see dark and serious scenes without a joke to lighten the mood. Overall I loved this trailer, and I’m very optimistic about Thor: Ragnarock. What did you think? Tell me in the comments.
