This year was the first that I payed close attention to E3.
If you’re unaware of what E3 is, it’s basically a giant convention where game developers show off their line-up of games for the next few years. I didn’t actually attend the event, I just watched all of the live streams. My favorite conference was Microsoft’s mainly because I was surprised how much the games impressed me.
Sea of Thieves, for example, which is a new game from a studio called Rare, looks spectacular and completely immersive. The water texture is far better than what I’ve seen in other games in recent memory.
The indie game Ashen also looked amazing. At the end of the trailer when the giant sky-dragon thing flew by was insane and totally got me on board with the game.
My favorite part of Microsoft’s conference though was the Gears of War news. It’s sad to see that Gears 4 is so far out but at least we’re getting the Ultimate Edition this summer. I’ve been playing the Beta the past few days and it’s definitely living up to expectations. With the new backwards compatibility for Xbox One old Gears games should be back on the console soon too.
Ubisoft also impressed me with every one of the Tom Clancy games particularly The Division. Overall it was a fantastic E3 and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
Game of Thrones spoilers ahead.
Sadly we have to say goodbye to Game of Thrones for the next few months.
Season 5 was phenomenal; especially the last 3 episodes. This was probably my favorite season so far and one of the most exciting. Before we get to the obvious Jon Snow discussion, let’s talk about Stannis. I believe that he is still alive.
Here’s why: Game of Thrones has never shied away from showing death before so why not show Stannis dying? Also the last thing that Stannis says to Brienne of Tarth is ‘Go on, do your duty.’
Why is this significant?
Because at the moment Brienne of Tarth’s duty is to save Sansa not kill Stannis. My theory is that she is going to use Stannis in a trade with the Bolton’s in return for Sansa. I could be completely wrong but we’ll just have to wait and see.
As for Jon Snow, for the moment, he’s dead, but I don’t think he will stay that way. There are three ways that this could play out. One being that he, like his brother Bran, is a warg, therefore before death he would have moved his mind into Ghost, his dire wolf. If not this Melisandre will revive him like Beric Dondarrion. I think that Melisandre foresaw Stannis and Jon Snow’s deaths and chose to save Jon Snow instead. That may be why she looked so distraught when she arrived at Castle Black. The last option is the saddest. Jon Snow may be revived by the White Walkers and forced to fight his brothers at the wall.
Oh, and of course, he may actually just be dead.
Currently I believe, mostly, in the second theory but any of them are plausible. Maybe we’ll find out who Jon Snows parents actually are, soon, too. Also, everyone at Castle Black who took part in killing Jon Snow needs to be slaughtered worse than Arya slaughtered Ser Meryn Trant.
If you have any other Game of Thrones theories let me know. Thanks for reading.
